Why am I having tooth pain?

What causes a tooth infection or abscess to develop?

Tooth infection is typically caused by harmful bacteria that has begun to invade the nerve area of the tooth. As the infection process progresses, the bacteria will began to spread, resulting in an abscess. The presence of an abscess indicates a serious tooth infection which needs attention immediately. An abscess is your bodies way of trying to localize the bacteria and prevent the infection from spreading.
